The Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Navi Mumbai, was established on March 22, 2012.
Key Functions:
- Established to prevent human trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labor, child trafficking, and the exploitation of women and children.
- Gathers intelligence on trafficking cases, tracks them, conducts investigations, and initiates legal action.
- Coordinates with relevant departments to bust trafficking networks and ensure the rescue, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration of victims.
- Conducts preventive operations, public awareness drives, covert intelligence gathering, and rescue missions across sensitive locations, including hotels, lodges, bars, spas, and industrial areas.
- Plays a crucial role in safeguarding women and children.
